Really makes you wonder what the universe is playing at. Are we here to rescue something that doesn't want rescuing?

I don't want to think that the universe is that self-sabotaging, but for all we know that might be the case. [ which says more about how much they do and don't know than anything about the universe, but. ]

Lune and Sol say they volunteered. Why weren't we given the same option, I wonder?

I definitely would have said no, if they asked. They probably just knew that no one would agree to this part.

Lune and Sol agreed. I'm sure it could have found people. I don't know that I would have said no, if I'd been asked.

You're right, though, in that they got tapped for what seems to be the safer role. Given that there's only two of them, I suppose the universe figured it wouldn't need the redundancies.

It wouldn't do to be too hasty about these things, but then again, I wouldn't put much trust in the lot of us as a whole, so who knows.
