Week 2 | Monday
Date: 2019-06-17 10:49 pm (UTC)Your profile says you have culinary skills, right? Can you teach me to cook?
[ ... straight forward. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:04 am (UTC)...Why?
[ Can't you just learn from a book. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:05 am (UTC)... Because I want to learn?
[ And whatever she wants is the most important thing in the world??? ]
I'm a total beginner, but I really want to get good at it.
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:14 am (UTC)The library has books. Use those.
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:22 am (UTC)[ And she pats a small pale of cookbooks that she's set on the counter in preparation! Pat pat pat!!! ]
But sometimes they use words I don't really get how to follow, and what if I can't find all the right ingredients? Then I won't know what can be substituted... Plus it's a little nerve-wracking to try a new thing all by myself, you know?
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:41 am (UTC)Then ask someone else.
[ He is very well aware that no one else here can cook, and yet... ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:45 am (UTC)I want to be able to cook for everyone!
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:49 am (UTC)You're going to do it anyway, aren't you.
[ Shess did say he needs to talk to the others in order to find what he's looking for... and he hates that. But he can't exactly risk everyone in the village getting food poisoning because one girl won't take no for an answer. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 12:57 am (UTC)I don't want to let Minato-kun down.
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 01:07 am (UTC)Well. Whoever they are, they're going to be held responsible if anything goes wrong here. ]
...Fine. Only because we don't need food poisoning on top of everything else.
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 01:18 am (UTC)I was thinking something like this? I don't know if it's hard or not, but I just don't want to mess it up!
[ And eventually she finds the page she wanted and holds the book out for him to look at! She wants to make french onion soup in a bread bowl. Good Luck. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 01:24 am (UTC)After staring at the page for a minute, though, he decides it can't be that hard - with one condition: ]
Start with regular bowls.
[ That fancy bread bowl shit can come later, when you can cook literally anything without killing someone. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 01:40 am (UTC)Akane huffs playfully. ]
Vetoed! I picked this specifically because Minato-kun said he wanted something with bread!
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 01:49 am (UTC)Then he can have it on the side.
[ Who the heck are they to make demands when Kara's the only one here who cooks, anyway? Take what you get and deal with it >:( ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 01:57 am (UTC)And for once she's actually making herself useful and helping to get out everything the recipe book calls for! Wow! ]
Ehehe. My veto got vetoed.
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 02:06 am (UTC)Cut the onions.
[ He seems unconcerned about handing a child a knife, or whether she'll know how to cut them, exactly, but okay. It shouldn't be too hard for her, right? In the meantime, he'll be over here, mincing the garlic. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 03:29 am (UTC)[ She's handy with the knife! But anxious about messing up... ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 03:34 am (UTC)[ This is why he's handling the mincing. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 03:40 am (UTC)Except it only takes her like halfway through a single onion before she's getting all watery-eyed and sniffling and getting really annoyed by it. And she's obnoxious too, like, sniffling loudly and then going 'weeeh' and things like that. ]

Date: 2019-06-18 03:40 pm (UTC)no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 06:58 pm (UTC)[ Why even bother cooking if you're going to have to get snively at onions?! ... Her tone sure changes fast, at the first inconvenience. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-18 11:39 pm (UTC)[ It's.... not a perfect solution, but it works, for the most part. Anyway he'll finish slicing the onions himself because it's just faster that way, and leave them there while he goes to turn on the stove. ]
no subject
Date: 2019-06-19 05:15 am (UTC)... Maybe it doesn't make a difference. ]
So, how did you learn to cook? Just from books?
no subject
Date: 2019-06-19 03:00 pm (UTC)Measure what we'll need for it.
[ And then keep an eye on the pot, so he can toss the onions in when it's ready. After a few moments, he'll finally answer. ]
I learned from my former master. Not books.
no subject
Date: 2019-06-19 08:57 pm (UTC)See? So learning from a person is way better than learning from a book!
[ You grumpy hypocrite, you! ]
