It doesn't need to be kept cold unless it's already opened, so it could be anywhere... Usually it comes in clear plastic boxes about this big? [ ... she turns to Lili to gesture with her hands. ]

Yeah, it's really common where I'm from. And it's tasty. Umm... If you've never had it before, the paste we're looking for is more brown than it is red...

[ Hmm, she puts a finger to her chin. ] --Yeah, that's right. Phones and tablets and TV. Really convenient stuff.

We need tofu, wakame... Do you like mushrooms? How about green onion?

How did you learn how to make it?

Mm, just those. [ Akane retrieves tofu and wakame! Yay! ]

In school we have to take home ec. classes, so they teach us to cook some really basic stuff. Miso soup is really common where I'm from, so it was one of the first things we learned.

You got classes on it?

Ah, I'm jealous. That seems like such a basic thing that'd come in handy...

I always hated it...! They'd make us pair up with people whether we liked them or not, and some groups were always goofing off the whole time.

It's like - there's knives around, you know? Be more careful.

They were being reckless with knives? What a bunch of morons.

Yeah, and with the stove-tops on and stuff, too.

[ Akane may be kind of crazy, but she's also sometimes just a normal girl! :) ]

Will you cut the green onions for us?

Mm, I can.

[she'll move to do that because at least she understands the basic concept of cutting ingredients - they may vary a little in size though]

How did you survive with so many idiots around?

[ Akane does other... Cooking things... It's all equally average and unimpressive, but not terrible.

The honest answer is "I just get rid of the ones I don't like," but... She and Lili have a pretty good rapport so. ]

I just keep my distance. The stupid boys always flock to each other and leave the girls alone, eventually.

Well at least there's that. You can always count on boys to be stupid.

But even some of the girls can be rowdy sometimes. Like playing with a volleyball in the classroom, just because we're on lunch break...

It's not too uncommon. Most people have better sense and don't do stuff like that in the wrong places though. They'd keep it outside, or in the gym.

Like, volleyball? I'm not into it, but it's pretty popular.
