[ That's fair, considering it's Minato, and he gives her a warm smile when she takes his hand. He'd just left the hall, to get away from the noise a bit, but planned to go back later too. ]

It's my birthday.

[ He learned this ten minutes ago and that is not why he showered, but it's a good enough reason as any to smell nice. ]

[ She's so startled that she stops walking so. Hope he stopped too or he's getting yanked back. ]

[ Oof— he gets yanked back, but his shoulder's been through more abuse in the past 5 weeks than this, so he can handle it. ]

Well... unofficially. We decided it was today- Shess and Miki and me- 'cause it's a good a day as any.

[ Ah- hm. Kitchens are kind of dangerous. There's some resistance before he gives, following along after Akane and praying to every deity he knows that Kara isn't there. Akane is with him, so nothing should happen, right? ]

...I'm pretty good at making bread, now. So I'll be able to help too.

[ He's fine using a cookbook; all that means is that the cake will come out perfect, because Minato can follow directions if he feels like following directions, but it'll be boring. Maybe he can convince Akane to let him decorate it, but he'll push his luck after the cake is done. ]

Birthdays... are kinda hard here. But when is yours? We could celebrate it today too.

It's January 2nd. But I don't want to celebrate on the same day as you.

That's what's fun about birthdays. They're special, and you usually get one all to yourself. Don't you want your birthday all to yourself?

[ Lots of people are born on the same day... ]

Not really... it's kind of weird having a celebration just for me. I just want the cake.

[ Yeah but statistically how many of them are going to be your own friends and family!! She said 'usually'! ]

... You don't want the celebration? Why not...?

I mean... I would buy myself cake, if I knew what day it was. But celebrations involve people.

[ And he doesn't have people— friends, family, anything like that. ]

Celebrating can look like whatever you want it to look like. If that's just having some cake by yourself, that's fine.

[ She is misunderstanding his lack of friends and family for a lack of desire for those things, but okay. ]

I guess... I could have birthday cake every day. There's nothing stopping me.

[ Minato is so close to making a bet out of this, but that's how Naminé got him to drink nothing but coffee for a full week, and he's trying to be better. ]

What about one bite of birthday cake a day?

I think that would be fine. It's not that bad to have a liiiittle bit of sweets every day. But I think you'd get tired of it if you had it every day.

That balanced diet thing, huh... Four was talking to me about that too. You don't have a favorite food you'd never get sick of. I want to be able to cook something you'd enjoy too.

I don't think I have anything I'd never get tired of. It's hard for me to even pick one food to call my favorite to begin with.
